History

El Patrón Guesthouse was born out of the deepest admiration and pride for my father, Andrés Franquis Benítez. A native of El Cotillo, he had to leave his village and family as a child to pursue his studies and become a merchant marine captain. Through honesty, loyalty, and hard work, he built a small seaside cottage—typical of Fuerteventura—where he could spend summers with his family in his beloved village. The legacy he left us—a love for his village and homeland, pride in his *Majorero* identity, and a steadfast commitment to upholding local traditions—is what we wish to carry forward through this guesthouse, offering a place where guests can share, listen, and discover a unique way of life and being.
